چکیده

The e ects of carbon emissions have been the objective of an investigation that was based on the model of the nation-wide transportation system with railway, waterway, and roadway. The dynamics of such a complex phenomenon depends on a set of control variables (i.e., the percentage of carbon tax on the fuel cost, the operational cost coverages, and growth rates of the various transportation modes) that can be chosen in a suitable way so as to minimize a given cost function (e.g., carbon emissions, public and private costs, fuel consumption, etc.). This problem has been addressed by searching for a feedback control law that can be approximated by means of the combination of both Dynamic Programming and neural networks. Preliminary simulation results with the afore-mentioned model are presented to demonstrate the e ectiveness of the proposed method.

Coordination of competitive advertising via investing in transportation lead time reduction

In this study, a contract for vertical and horizontal coordination is developed in which transportation mode and carbon emissions tax play a key role in determining the values of the contract parameters. The contract is designed for simultaneous coordination of cooperative advertising and periodic review replenishment decisions of a supplier and two competitive retailers. To obtain the optimal ...

Quantity and Location Decision of Fresh Food Distribution Centers for a Supermarket Chain under Carbon Policies

Supermarket chains handle frequent deliveries of fresh food to the stores, which have led to the nonignorable high transportation cost. Then a question arises that is it possible to reduce cost by establishing more refrigerated distribution centers (DC)? To answer this question, on basis of data from a large supermarket chain in China, we analyze the decision making process to construct new sub...

Carbon and energy taxes in a small and open country

Malaysia, as a small and developing country, must reduce carbon emissions because the country is one of the top CO2-emitting countries in the ASEAN region. Therefore, the current study implements two environmental tax policies; carbon and energy taxes, in order to examine the impacts of these policies on the reduction of carbon emission in the whole of the economy by applying a compu...
